Social networking via voice chat – how much more can we network?

    Your post makes me think of a parody of Facebook that I saw recently on the TV show “The IT Crowd.” The three characters became obsessed with chatting with people they didn’t really like and stopped sleeping, eating, or working. It was funny to watch, but mostly because it was so real.

    The tracking of number of friends, followers, contacts, etc… seems to suggest that size of network matters–perhaps to give a user prestige or credibility. But your point that networks might become too large is very interesting. It seems likely that there would be a point of diminishing returns, as you suggest.
